At the bottom of each BuddhaKungFu.com webpage is a link titled, "Press."

This month's uploaded flyer is our "Kung Fu Bootcamp" flyer.

This is a "2-up" version of the full-page Kung Fu Bootcamp flyer.

This 2-up Bootcamp flyer is good for handing out AND putting on windshields. Whenever this should seem like a good idea, such as at a martial arts tournament parking lot, we should consider putting these under their windshield wipers.

I don't like spamming or annoying people, but we're offering an opportunity/service to people we can presume will be GLAD that we informed them. Otherwise, I'd refrain. Let's try to make that the focus of our marketing and advertising. If we target the proper audience/clientelle, we are "helping them" to discover what they're already looking for.

CV Park Country Fair

Each year we are invited to perform at the "Country Fair" held at Crescenta Valley Park.

For now, we'll plan on using the same Demo Team show we've used at the Founder's Day Graduation Ceremony and the May Graduation Ceremony.

For some reason they've been having problems scheduling it this year. More details later.

But start getting ready. We're included in the show. It may not be until August?

We've shot some test footage for the 66 videos of shaolinINTERACTIVE.com

Some students have suggested putting them on YouTube.com

Some other students have shown me some websites where they "SELL VIDEO CLASSES." If we upload our classes to these websites, they pay us a percentage of sales.

Since I'm a UCLA film school graduate... Since I've made 7-up commercials... Since I've made music videos for record companies... Since I've worked for special effects movie companies... Since I've made Hollywood feature films... MY STANDARDS are of the highest professional movie-making standards.

It makes me very uncomfortable to try to sell "amateur quality" unprofessional videos. Even though other people are doing it...

Kung Fu Cowboy ORIGINAL DRAFT

This is the HAND WRITTEN rough draft for the upcoming book, KUNG FU COWBOY. This book is the story of Buddha Zhen's KUNG FU LIFE.

This book, includes the various incarnations of the KUNG FU COWBOY book.

Since the release of American Zen's album, LEVEL 3 = I Want You To Love Me, The Hippy Coyote (Buddha Zhen's rock'n'roll name) has been developing/living/portraying/embodying this new level of his spiritual growth.

Based upon the Buddhism of shaolinZEN.org CyberTemple, teaching Kung Fu, teaching Tai Chi, developing, founding, and launching the new Buddha Kung Fu schools, developing, launching, and teaching the 12 Step 12 Week Kung Fu Bootcamps, teaching classes at the YMCA and Crescenta Valley Park, raising his two children, and writing the new songs for his Kung Fu Cowboy album...

As a result of all of the above, he created this book as a template/guide/layout for his new American Zen album, Kung Fu Cowboy.

It's in the Buddha Kung Fu BOOKSTORE now.

Disciple Shawn created this CD of our songs for performances.

We won't be selling these on the internet, but for $10 you can get a copy from Shawn or Buddha Zhen. This will make it easier to practice the BKF Demo Team Performance 1 at home or wherever you go. You can transfer the songs to your ipod...

You can also make your own CD from the songs on the TAI CHI MAGIC 1 album by Buddha Zhen, but you'll be guessing at the song spacing...

No More BKF Uniforms?

We've been going to Chinatown and getting uniforms there. They have lots of colors and sizes.

The prices are the same as we previously offered since Shaolin Chi Mantis has been purchasing them wholesale since 1994. Now that Buddha Zhen is living in an apartment and storage is in Santa Clarita, its easier to drive to downtown L.A.'s Chinatown.

It's also been a lot of fun. Disciple Donovan purchased a really nice Chinese coin tail for our worn-out Buddha Medallian that Buddha Zhen brings to every class.

This Buddha Medallion was a gift from Shaolin Chi Mantis Disciple Dave back in the 1990s. This bell-flag has been our symbol of our Buddhist heritage and been hung in up to two churches per day where we taught classes, over a dozen schools, both YMCAs, the YWCA, Phoenix University, elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, parks, continuing education programs... No wonder the pendants wore out and fell off the bottom.

These 8-Lucky coins were admired by a Chinese Yoga instructor recently who attended our classes. She really liked them.

Kung Fu Cowboy = Buddhist Journey of BZ

This book, Kung Fu Cowboy Original Draft, by The HIppy Coyote (Buddha Zhen), details his Kung Fu journey since 1980. Parts of the book have been rewritten in Buddha Zhen's calligraphy style to make them more legible and artistic. The poetry looks especially nice.

Many people can judge others by their calligraphy. Want to know Buddha Zhen? Get this book.

"Masonic Kung Fu" Performance

Every June is our SUMMER PUSH HANDS TOURNAMENT.

We haven't promoted it much this year due to less students than last year and a lack of student sponsorship. Last year was a lot of fun, with the "Kung Fu Panda," a freemason friend of BZ taking first place in the Push Hands Tournament.

We'd promote it more if it were better attended, but we don't want the press to show up for just six or eight of us competing. Perhaps next year...

Buddha Zhen says he will perform the "PUBLIC VERSION" of his "Masonic Kung Fu" at the SCM, BKF, TCY Annual Summer Push Hands Tournament.

EVERY JUNE'S SCHEDULE:

1st Saturday / Sunday: Push Hands Seminar

2nd Saturday / Sunday: Push Hands Seminar

3rd Saturday / Sunday: FREE Judging Seminar / Demo Tournament

4th Saturday OR Sunday: SCM, BKF, TCY Annual Summer Push Hands Tournament

We'd like to promote this to Karate schools also. Buddha Zhen has contacted a few local Karate schools, but now we're concerned that if they show up they'll outnumber us and wipe us out.

Buddha Kung Fu needs to spend more time and effort developing our tournaments. Tai Chi Youth is supposed to sponsor this tournament also. However, none of the students this year have supported or been involved in our fundraising... so now we can't support our own tournament.

Perhaps that is where we need to put our focus: TAI CHI YOUTH. With donations and corporate sponsors we could throw a nice tournament, and have a professional appearance for the press and the public.

Summer Push Hands Tournament

This annual Push Hands tournament is a great way to promote Tai Chi to the public. By creating a higher profile professional tournament, these tournaments have proven to be entertaining to the public, or relatives, and friends.

Push Hands is not really sparring, because there is NO punching or kicking. It is a contest of skill, balance, coordination... and it's a lot of fun for all contestents whether you win or lose.

The public needs to know what Push Hands is. We need to promote this tournament better because it is one of the safest ways for people to physically compete without being injured, bruised, or maimed.

Our next Push Hands Tournament is the annual SCM, BKF, TCY PUSH HANDS CHAMPIONSHIP held on the 4th weekend of September.

Let's have fun at this Summer Push Hands Tournament. But let's strive to create better tournaments that audiences will enjoy and martial artists from other schools will want to travel to to compete in.

Let's work together to make it happen.

Tournament Videotaping

Disciple Shawn and several other students have agreed that we should tape our SUMMER PUSH HANDS TOURNAMENT and post some videos on YouTube.com

This will be a good start for promoting our Push Hands Tournament, and helping the public to understand what Push Hands is.

SO dress well for the tournament. Look good for the videos.
